Car Crushed While Owner in Jail

Add this to your list of “you know it’s going to be a bad day when…”  While a Wilkes County woman was in jail—someone stole her car, sold it for scrap, and then it was crushed.  A Wilkesboro woman called the Wilkes Sheriff’s Department regarding the theft of her 1998 Nissan Sentra.  She told Sheriff’s Deputies that the vehicle was taken while she was in jail.  During the auto theft investigation, it was determined that the car was stolen and sold to Miller’s Automotive as scrap metal.  Miller’s then crushed the victim’s car, so it cannot be recovered.  There is a suspect in this theft and charges are pending.
