Wilkes County Break-Ins

Some commonly stolen items were taken and a couple of uncommonly stolen things were taken in two break-ins this week being investigated by the Wilkes Sheriff’s Department.  First, Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a residence in North Wilkesboro.  The homeowner stated that while he was away someone entered his house through an unlocked front door.  The thief took some cash and a Remington single-shot, 12 gauge shotgun.  Money and guns are two very popular item among thieves; however, this time a remote control airplane was also stolen.  No suspects were listed with that report.  Then a Boomer resident reported that someone entered their house.  This time the door was locked, so the thief pried it open.  Again, several commonly stolen things were taken in the home break-in including cash, a box of ammo, and a variety of video games.  But in this break-in, a rod and reel was also stolen.  As with the first report, there were no suspects.  Both break-ins are still currently being investigated.
