Big Wilkes Turnout for First Annual College Fair

According to an ASU: it was very unusual for a turnout of such magnitude.  Wilkes County Schools hosted the First Annual College Fair over the weekend in the Stone Center for Performing Arts.  The fair was sponsored by the Wilkes County Schools AIG and Student Services Departments along with the non-profit community organization, Dreams and Kitestrings.  One hundred thirty-eight students representing all of the high schools and middle schools were in attendance along with many parents. Several homeschooled students and students from private schools in the Wilkes and Statesville areas were in attendance with their parents.  Parents and students received admissions information along with answers to questions about tuition, financial aid, scholarships, majors, and athletics. More than twenty colleges and the North Carolina School of Science and Math were represented.  According to Angie Lamb, AIG Coordinator for Wilkes County Schools, “We plan to make this an annual event to help our students and parents prepare for the future.”
