Congrats to WCC Students

Congratulations to a couple of local student winners.  Wilkes Community College students Whitney Garret and Angela Baronciani both placed fourth place in the N.C. State Fair Graphics Competition. Garret placed in the competition for ages 19 and up; Baronciani placed in the competition for ages 13-18. Both students received $40 prize money. The theme of this year’s competition was “Discovering Local Foods.” Garret and Baronciani were two of five WCC students who entered the statewide competition which included a total of 166 entries.  “The Web & Graphic Design Competition is an opportunity for students to immerse themselves in new technology, while they hone their creative skills,..” said Steven W. Troxler, Commissioner of Agriculture for North Carolina. The WCC Advertising and Graphic Design program offers a two-year degree option as well as two certificate programs.  Wilkes Community College, a member of the North Carolina Community College System, is a public, two-year, open-door institution serving the people of Wilkes, Ashe and Alleghany counties.
