Fallen Soldier from Wilkes Honored by Motorcycle Group

Over 40 motorcycles of the Tribute to the Troops organization came to Moravian Falls last Saturday to honor a fallen soldier from Wilkes.  Martha Bauguess said that the Tribute to Troops called and asked if they could come for a visit to honor her son, Major Larry J. Bauguess, Jr., who was stationed in Afghanistan and killed in May 2007.  Maj Bauguess was in the 4th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, of the 82nd Airborne out of Ft. Bragg.  The motorcycle group visits families of fallen soldiers all over the country.  They don’t bring the media; this is just to honor the families of the fallen.  On Saturday at the Bauguess’ home in Moravian Falls, a spokesman of Tribute to the Troops spoke about Larry’s life and presented his family with a Memorial Plaque of Distinguished Service in remembrance of his everlasting call to bravery, honor, and sacrifice.  Tribute to the Troops is out of Minnesota but has a local chapter in Iredell County.  Martha Bauguess said she was very blessed and honored that they came to honor her son.
