Some NC Soldiers Come Home

Greensboro and Lenoir Based Soldiers were welcomed home over the weekend.  The North Carolina National Guard’s 113th Sustainment Brigade return to the Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro.  Friends, family and fellow Soldiers welcomed the nearly 300 Soldiers back home at a brief ceremony at Building 3 immediately after the Soldiers arrived by aircraft to the facility.  The Soldiers deployed to Kuwait and served in Afghanistan,  Kyrgyzstan,  Qatar,  Oman,  Iraq, and Jordan in support of Operation New Dawn and Operation Enduring Freedom.   The Soldiers executed part of one of the largest logistical draw downs in U.S. Military history with the withdrawal from Iraq.  Their missions ranged throughout Southwest Asia, the Persian Gulf, Indian Ocean and Red Sea supervising the transport of billions of dollars of equipment over thousands of miles supporting combat operations in Afghanistan.  They managed the deployment of thousands of military personnel daily across the warzone.  The Brigade's Soldiers are experts in command and control for combat service and combat service support units.
