WCC Annual Golf Benefit
Monday, October 8, 2012 at 9:54AM Wilkes Community College’s 29th Annual Henry Moore Golf Classic was held Thursday, October 4, and generated $28,500 for the Wilkes Community College Endowment Corporation. Net proceeds from this year’s tournament will benefit the Automotive Technology Complex Capital Campaign. 94 players came to the annual sporting event at Oakwoods Country Club. Since 1984, the Henry Moore Golf Classic has contributed approximately $475,000 to the WCC Endowment Corporation to support capital improvements at Wilkes Community College. A moment of silence was held at the beginning of the tournament to remember Billie Forester Moore, who passed away on April 7, 2012, at the age of 103. She was the widow of Henry Moore, who was instrumental in the establishment of Oakwoods Country Club and an avid supporter of Wilkes Community College.
