Caught Selling Stolen Stuff

As we have already reported this week, a good way to earn some extra cash is to sell scrap metal unless…the metal isn’t scrap and it doesn’t belong to you.  Two teens from North Wilkesboro were arrested after being caught with stolen property from a local lumber yard.  In a report filed with the Sheriff’s Department, a man reported that someone had stolen various steel parts and angle iron from the Randy Miller Lumber Yard on Hwy 16.  The victim went to Wilkes Steel and found some of the stolen items.  He then called the Sheriff’s Department with the names of the two who sold the stolen property.  Sheriff’s Officials were also informed that the two were on their way back to Wilkes Steel with a second load.  When the suspects arrived, they were stopped by deputies.  The stolen property with them was identified by the owner.  18-year-old Daniel Moore still had cash on him which he obtained from the first sell of stolen goods.  Both Moore and his 16-year-old accomplice were arrested and charged with felony larceny and obtaining property by false pretense.
