Thursday Night Hwy 421 Wrecks

It was a bad night for wrecks on Hwy 421 last night.  Just after 6pm, a Wilkesboro woman—Lisa Goforth—went to make a left turn into a business parking lot and pulled into the path on oncoming traffic.  The driver of the second car, Carl Benge of Florida, was injured in the wreck and taken to WRMC.  Goforth was charged with Driving with License Revoked and Unsafe Movement.  Then there were chickens in the roadway after a Tyson truck overturned last night.  In a report filed with the Wilkesboro Police Department, a Tyson driver—Michael Cagle—was traveling south on North Curtis Bridge Road and made a right turn onto Hwy 421 Business.  In the middle of the right turn, the tractor and trailer overturned to the left causing the load of chickens to be dumped on the highway.  Cagle was treated by Wilkes EMS at the scene.  He said his brakes were not working properly at the time of the wreck.  Police charged Cage with improper brakes.  Damages to the truck are listed at 5000 dollars.  Major Dowell with Wilkesboro Police told 3WC News that Tyson is always very prompt in coming out to clean any debris from the roadway.  The wreck Thursday night just before 8 o’clock.
