Free Minor Home Repairs
Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 6:15PM Residents in Wilkes and across western North Carolina can once again receive minor home repairs free of charge, thanks to Carolina Cross Connection, a mission group based out of Concord. Youth and adult volunteers offer their services to the elderly, poverty stricken, disabled, and others in need through the end of this month. Carolina Cross Connection is a nonprofit Christian mission organization started in 1988. This summer, they hope to bring over 1400 volunteers to service 800 families in 22 counties including Wilkes. Volunteers will be housed in 5 locations across Western North Carolina including a location in Wilkesboro. Services offered by the group include wheelchair ramps, minor construction, painting, yard work, and general house cleaning. Work is offered free of charge; however, homeowners are encouraged to provide any building materials if possible. Those interested in the services of Carolina Cross Connection or if you would like to donate lumber, paint, and other materials, then call 704-721-0033 or visit their website: www.carolinacrossconnection.org .
