Keep the Doors Locked

In the day and time that we live, it is best to keep locks on the doors.  Granted thieves are still able to get in and steal at times even with locks on the doors, but not always and there is no need to make it easy for the thieves.  Apparently, a State Road resident left both doors to their home unlocked as they did not have locks on the doors that worked.  So while they were away from home, someone simply walked in empty handed but then walked out with some loot.  Stolen property included a flat screen TV valued at 2000 dollars and a Playstation III gaming system valued at nearly 700 dollars.  In the case of a Hays resident, they didn’t make it easy on the thief.  They locked the doors to their house, but after some prying on the front door a break-in occurred.  The thief pried open the front door and stole 2 shotguns and some coins.  There is no word on witnesses to the theft or suspects in either theft at this time.  The Wilkes County Sheriff’s Department is investigating both incidents
