Children Left Alone at Local Store

A warrant has been issued for a Wilkesboro woman after she left her two children in a local store.  Wilkesboro Police were dispatched to the Dollar General Store on Hwy 421 recently in reference to a woman who left her children at the store.  The woman had returned for the children and left the scene before Police were called.  The store manager told Police that the children appeared to be between the ages of 2 and 6 years old.  Police watched the store security video which showed a white female enter the store alone.  About 3 minutes later, two small children enter the store and then one minute later the woman exits the store, gets in her car, and leaves the parking lot.  Roughly 10 minutes later, the woman returns to the store and explains to the store manager that she left the children in the car alone and was unaware that the children had left the vehicle.  After observing the in-store video, Police determined the identity of the woman and issued a warrant for misdemeanor child abuse.  Charges are pending.
