Be Careful Traveling in Wilkesboro

Watch out when you’re on the road in town! We are beginning to see a trend in accidents between cars when merging. In several reports investigated by Wilkesboro Police over the past few days, cars hit other cars coming off ramps onto the highway, and some accidents involved one vehicle trying to merge into a lane but instead they merged into another car.  Safety precautions include:  Know your surroundings when driving.  Don’t get distracted talking or texting on your cell phone.  Give a signal before merging lanes, and check your side-view and rearview mirrors for other vehicles. And finally, give yourself plenty of time to get from one destination to another.  While these bump-ups and fender benders did not cause severe injuries to the drivers or occupants, they did have costly property damage to the vehicles involved.
