Bill Signed by NC Gov

Gov. Bev Perdue today signed House Bill 799, which permits military-trained applicants who have been awarded a military occupational specialty and military-spouse applicants who are licensed in another jurisdiction to receive occupational licenses in this State.  “This bill helps streamline the procedures, so military spouses in North Carolina can get the certification they need to work,” Gov. Perdue said. “We owe it to them, to provide this kind of support. As one of the most military-friendly states in the nation, I am proud to sign this bill.”   The applicants would have to meet requirements, either in the military or in another jurisdiction, that are substantially equivalent to or exceed the State requirements for licensure. The act would be effective when it becomes law. Each occupational licensing board would be required to implement the new statute within one year from the effective date.
