Wednesday Night Murder in Wilkes

Wilkes County has another murder for this year.  A Wilkes County man, 53-year-old Kenneth Dean “Tree” Beshears, was beaten to death Wednesday night at a Shew Ridge Mission Road residence.  Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Doug Cotton told 3WC News that they received a call regarding a domestic disturbance about midnight Wednesday.  When deputies arrived on the scene, they found Beshears lying dead in the driveway.  He had been bludgeoned to death.  The death occurred as the result of a fight at the home of Nathaniel James Roten age 38.  Roten was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder.  Others were on the scene but no other charges have been filed.  No reason was given for the fight.  Again, Kenneth Dean “Tree” Beshears was beaten to death, and Nathaniel James Roten has been arrested on 1st Degree Murder.
