Trying to Steal From Cars

Car owners are becoming more cautious or thieves stealing from cars are becoming less sneaky.  In a couple of reports called into the Sheriff’s Department recently, thieves were caught in the act.  A woman living near Elkin saw someone inside her truck with a flashlight.  When she went outside to see who it was, the person ran off.  Nothing was reported stolen and there were no damages to the truck.  Then a Wilkesboro man reported finding a suspect outside his home looking in his vehicles.  When the man approached, the suspect fled on foot and into some nearby woods.  Again, nothing was reported stolen and there were no damages to either vehicle.  The identity of the suspects in both incidents is unknown.
