Two Wilkes County Men Charged for Murder

One week ago today, a Wilkes County man, Nathaniel James Roten, was arrested for the murder of another Wilkes County resident, Kenneth Dean “Tree” Beshears.  Roten beat Beshears to death following an argument.  Then on Saturday, a Wilkes County resident was arrested in neighboring Alexander County for second-degree murder as a result of a shooting early Saturday morning.  Mark Anthony McWhorter Jr., 28, was charged with the shooting death of Andre Connor, 21, of Taylorsville.  Also two other people were shot and injured during a party at a house northeast of Taylorsville.  Again the shooting came after an argument.  McWhorter was charged with second-degree murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.  He was arrested at the scene and placed in the Alexander County Jail under a 800,000 dollar bond.
