3 Sunday Afternoon Wrecks with Injuries

According to Trooper Anderson with the NC Hwy Patrol, Sunday afternoon was a busy time for traffic accidents in Wilkes.  Just after 5pm Sunday, a 16-year-old with a 14-year-old passenger was traveling North on Hwy 421.  The 16-year-old, Charles Anderson Harmon IV of Winston-Salem, told the Hwy Patrol that he fell asleep at the wheel.  His car then crossed the centerline and hit a Chevy pickup head-on.  The 14-year-old was airlifted to Baptist; both Harmon and the driver of the truck, Dawn Tyson of Bethel, were taken by EMS to Baptist.  Harmon was charged in the wreck.  Then at 6:45, a car traveling on Hwy 268 West started to make a left and turned directly into the path of an oncoming BMW.  The driver that caused the accident was treated at the scene.  The other driver was taken by EMS to Baptist.  Then just minutes later at 7:03, Robert Lacy of Texas was involved in a one-vehicle accident in Roaring River.  Lacy had been drinking.  According to witnesses, he crossed the centerline, ran off the road, and hit a tree.  Lacy was entrapped in the car for nearly an hour.  He was severely injured and airlifted to Baptist.  Lacy will be charged with DWI.
