Prescription Drugs Taken in Vehicle Break-Ins

It was in their car, and then it wasn’t.  A Wilkesboro man called Police this week when he discovered money and medication missing from his car.  The man reported that he had gone to Kohl’s, the Subway, and Walmart.  He thought he locked his doors when he left it in the parking lot but was unsure if the doors were secure.  When he got back home, he noticed that some cash and a prescription bottle was missing from the middle console of his car.  Then a woman called the Wilkes Sheriff’s Department to report that prescription meds were stolen from under the seat of her car.  She had gone to Walmart and Kohl’s.  It is believed the meds were stolen while she was inside one of those stores.  The victim said her door locks had not been working properly, so the doors may not have been locked.  Police will be contacting the businesses visited by the two different victims to obtain surveillance video from the parking lots in order to determine suspects thefts from a vehicle.  Those investigations are ongoing.
