Deputy Witnesses Hit & Run

A Wilkes County man was arrested this week for hit and run and open warrants.  In a report with the Sheriff’s Department, a Wilkes County Deputy had stopped to check on a vehicle parked on the side of the road.  The vehicle owner had pulled to the side of the road to check on his garden, and the Deputy stopped to see if it was a disabled motorist.  While the Deputy was talking with the driver, he observed two other vehicles collide on Yellow Banks Road.  One of the vehicles, a Ford Expedition driver by Luke Dellinger, left the scene of the accident.  The Deputy pursued Dellinger and was able to arrest him.  The Highway Patrol came to investigate the wreck.  While in custody is was also determined that Dellinger had open warrants.  Dellinger was charged with hit and run, fleeing to elude arrest, and open warrants.  He was taken to the Wilkes County Jail.
