15 Were Pinned

The Wilkes Community College Dental Assisting Program held their 24thannual pinning ceremony this month with 15 students receiving pins.  Billy Woods, dean of the Health Science division, Jennifer Hastings, lead instructor of Dental Assisting, and Dr. Gordon Burns, president of Wilkes Community College, spoke at the ceremony.  Dr. Christopher Dirig, general dentist from Statesville, was the guest speaker.   Awards were given including:  Patient Care Award to Olivia Eller, Outstanding Chairside Assistant to Kristie McNeil and Scholarship Achievement Award to Kym Wiggins.  Fifteen Dental Assisting students were presented with pins to signify their successful completion of the one-year diploma level program.  The majority of the graduates have successfully passed the national certification exams to be certified dental assistants.  The members of the WCC 2012 Dental Assisting Class are proud to name Dr. Keith Bentley as recipient of the Outstanding Dental Professional Award for his support and dedication to the WCC Dental Assisting program. Dr. Bentley, a licensed dentist for 52 years, has been instrumental in the success of the WCC Dental Assisting program, which he organized and has served as an adjunct faculty member.  For more information about the Dental Assisting program Wilkes Community at 336-838-6145 .
