Walking Out With New Shoes

I don’t know if they were having a shoe sale but I guarantee you that they did not intend to have a shoe steal.  In a couple of reports filed with Wilkesboro Police over the weekend, people just walked out the door…literally…without paying for their new shoes.  Police were first called to Kohls regarding a shoplifter being detained at the store.  The store loss prevention officer told Police that the man, identified as Adam Johnson, had put on a new pair of shoes after breaking the anti-theft device, left his old shoes in the box, and then left the store.  He was stopped in the parking lot by store employees and asked to step back inside to wait for Police.  Johnson was very uncooperative when Police arrived.  He was arrested with misdemeanor larceny and with felony removal of anti-theft device.  Johnson was taken to jail with a 1500 dollar bond.  Then Police were called a second time to Kohls again regarding shoplifting shoes.  This time, two women were involved in the theft.  One picked out and hid the shoes, and the other concealed and left the store with them.  Loretta Adams was detained at the store and charged with larceny and with an outstanding warrant.  Her bond was set at 2000 dollars.  The other woman was identified but left the store before Police arrived.  A warrant has also been issued for her arrest.
