Shoplifting and Drug Charges

As is often the case, one crime led to the discovery of another.  Wilkesboro Police were called to Walmart regarding two shoplifters being detained at the store.  Store employees told Police that the man and woman had been seen picking out store merchandise and concealing it.  Store employees also reported seeing a pill container with one of the shoplifters.  When Police search them, the pill box was not found.  After other Officers were called to the store, the man admitted to hiding the pill container in his shoe.  The man, John Byers, was arrested and charged with larceny and 3 counts of drug possession.  The woman was released with one misdemeanor count of larceny.
