TEA Teachers Need Temporary Home in Wilkes
Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 9:39AM Dear Educators and Families in Wilkes County, a group of highly selected “TEA Fellows” are arriving in Boone on September 22, 2012. TEA stands for The Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program (TEA) which brings outstanding secondary school teachers from around the globe to the United States to further develop expertise in their subject areas, enhance their teaching skills, and increase their knowledge about the United States. Twenty-two teachers from 18 countries will be here for 6 weeks. Appalachian State University will place the international teachers in two of Wilkes high schools. A teacher from Egypt and a teacher from Cambodia are coming to Wilkes Central High. Also two teachers from Uzbekistan are going to North Wilkes High School.
