Driving Under 18-Wheeler in Parking Lot

Amazingly, no one was injured in a traffic accident involving a car driving up under a tractor trailer.  The collision happened Wednesday in the WalMart parking lot.  Steven Harpster of Kernersville was driving a Freightline truck on the access road in front of Wells Fargo Bank.  Bernice Bumgarner of Millers Creek was driving a car and was making a left turn from the WalMart parking lot onto the access road.  She failed to see the tractor trailer and drove her car underneath the trailer.  The left rear trailer tire struck the front passenger side door.  Again, thankfully, no one reported injuries.  Bumgarner was cited for unsafe movement.   Wilkesboro Police investigate a number of traffic accidents each week in area parking lots.  In fact, there was a total of 3 parking lot wrecks on Wednesday.  The other two wrecks were in Murphy’s parking lot in which Kasey Hayworth was cited for unsafe movement and in Tyson’s parking lot where Claudia Perales was also cited in that wreck.  No injuries were reported with either incident.
