Break-Ins Overnight

The Wilkes Sheriff’s Department received a couple of reports over the weekend concerning overnight thefts from their home.  First, a North Wilkesboro resident called regarding a burglary at his house.  The victim stated that he believed someone entered his house about 1am Saturday morning.  He was asleep in the other end of the house and was unaware of the break-in and theft until he woke up and found an window open and things missing.  A neighbor of the victim reported hearing something outside about 1am but didn’t see anyone.  The victim reported that two boxes of insulin syringes were stolen.  There is no word on suspects at this time.  The Wilkes Sheriff’s Office is investigating and charges of First Degree Burglary are pending.  Then, a Moravian Falls woman called the Sheriff’s Office on Saturday concerning a theft at her residence.  There was no break-in, but a mower was stolen.  This time the property owner reported hearing a loud noise outside her home.  She went to her door to look outside but did not see anyone.  The stolen mower is described as a 2010 Troybilt riding mower.  Again, no suspects were listed but the investigation is still underway.
