Catching Crook on Video

Yes, Big Brother is watching you and this kind of camera surveillance is usually quite useful in tracking down criminals.  Through video footage at area stores, Wilkesboro Police and Boone Police are closing in on a suspect in a credit card theft.  A man from Purlear became the victim of a credit card theft and called Wilkesboro Police on Saturday.  The man said he had left his wallet in an unsecure locker at the YMCA.  Later he discovered his credit card was missing.  By the time he cancelled his card, it had already been used 4 times, once in Wilkesboro and 3 times in Boone.  Both Police Departments obtained video footage from the stores where the card was used and interviewed store employees to get a description of the card thief.  Police do have a suspect in this case, both Wilkesboro and Boone Police Depts are working on the investigation, and charges are pending.
