Still Winning in the NCAA

Continued congratulations are in order and were given by the governor.  This week NC Gov. Bev Perdue met with the Methodist University Women’s Golf Team at the Executive Mansion to congratulate them for their NCAA Division III championship.  The Methodist University Monarchs of Fayetteville, NC, have dominated the NCAA Division III, winning the championship for the past 15 years. The Monarchs hold the third longest winning streak in the NCAA. The team has also won the championship 25 out of the past 27 years, taking the runner-up spot in 1990 and 1997.  Also this week, Gov. Bev Perdue announced that Global Textile Alliance Inc, a leading fabrics manufacturer, will expand its operations in Rockingham County. The company plans to create 55 jobs and invest $7.4 million over the next three years in Reidsville. The project was made possible in part by a $150,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.  The One NC Fund provides financial assistance, through local governments, to attract business projects that will stimulate economic activity and create new jobs in the state.
