Shaving to Stand Against Violence
Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 9:09AM Local men are invited to participate in ‘Face the Facts,’ SAFE, Inc.’s fourth annual “battle of the beards.” Participating men will give up shaving for seven weeks starting Feb. 13th. During the campaign, participants will solicit donations for SAFE, and they’ll wear “Ask Me About My SAFE Face” buttons to take a visible stand against domestic and sexual violence. SAFE says, "Men, it's time to take a stand." Domestic and sexual violence are big problems. One in four women will be the victim of domestic violence at some point in their lives. One in six women will be sexually assaulted. Face the Facts is SAFE's top fundraising event. Last year, two dozen men in the Wilkes area raised over $5000. Proceeds from Face the Facts help SAFE provide free services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
